Abstract

In recent years, the inventions in communication systems require the
development of low cost, minimal weight, compact and low profile antennas
that are capable of maintaining high performance over a wide spectrum of
frequencies. This technological trend has focused much effort in the design of
micro strip patch antennas because of its inherent characteristics that fits the
requirements of modern communication devices. This project presents the
design and simulation of a compact rectangular Micro strip patch antenna for
dual frequency operation from 0 GHz to 2 GHz and Impedance from -100 to 300
(Resistance and reactance) Azimuth angle [-180, 180 degrees], Elevation angle
[-90°, 90°]. The simulation of the designed aritenna was done with the aid of
MATLAB which will be used to calculate the parameters. The proposed antenna
may find applications in wireless local area network (Wi-Fi) and GNNS,
GPS signals according to the frequencies used. The project consists of coming out
with a circularly polarized Micro strip patch Antenna designed and simulated in
MATLAB based on GPS; GNSS; GALILEO; GLONASS.
